Willow Lanterns and Lighting Workshop
Lanterns made from willow and tissue paper can be very magical creations. This workshop is very easy and satisfying for all ages and abilities. It is a fantastic way of engaging people, encouraging them to learn new skills and find their innate creativity. Children and adults love to make glass jar lanterns and develop other designs in willow.
Famous American willow artist Patrick Dougherty talks of ‘drawing with sticks’ as something everyone can do. Silhouette designs can be made using various printing techniques and simple cut-outs. The organic willow is a wonderful material to work with and it is possible to make some really fantastic creations with it.
Lantern workshops can be for adults, children or the whole community. Suitable for children year 4+ or even younger if working with an adult.
