WILLOW ART
Sculpture Workshop
There are so many materials that you can sculpt with! Magnificent light weight sculptures can be created by manipulating buff withies. This versatile material is very malleable when soaked allowing the creator to produce beautiful three dimensional pieces’ representations of anything you can imagine. Other options include recycled cardboard tubes, newspaper and papier-mâché. The sculptures can then be enhanced by being covered in tissue paper, giving them a colourful skin.
Wire Sculpture Workshops
This is a great way for individuals and groups to learn a new way to express themselves. We’ll explore making contour wire sculptures, wire-wrapped frame sculptures, and variations including beads, sequins and other additions. Sculptures can be small or large, and all tools and materials are provided.
An excellent workshop for kids, but fun for adults too!
This workshop makes an excellent first step into sculpture and 3-d modelling, and is just as popular as a retirement/care home workshop as a student workshop.
Outdoor Willow Sculpture Workshop or Class Activity
I can devote the day to working with an entire class to create a unique willow structure, or can spend time with several classes throughout the day making one or two small items for each child.
Special projects can be carried out over several days or weeks. Most sessions can be held indoors or outdoors. I combine traditional willow weaving techniques with contemporary design to build willow domes, willow igloos, willow dens, willow wigwams, willow tunnels, living hedges, mazes and willow sculptures.
Special commissions and installations
If you want something truly unique to round out a special day, ceremony or event we can arrange an appropriately themed artistic installation that your visitors will love. Not only can this be an interactive, truly participatory installation, it can result in a permanent artwork that will foster community involvement over the long term.
