ABOUT CREATINGART
Art, making and participation for more than 30 years.
MEET EMILY COOLING
CreatingART was founded by Emily Cooling, an experienced arts practitioner with over 30 years of delivering art workshops, participatory installations and collaborative creative projects across the UK.
With a background in textiles and a lifelong interest in colour, pattern and materials, Emily’s work brings people together through creative making — from individual workshops to large-scale collaborative projects.
Her experience spans schools, museums, festivals, community organisations and public events, creating inclusive, professionally structured opportunities for people of different ages and abilities to take part, develop skills and contribute to strong visual outcomes.
Now based in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, Emily leads CreatingART across Wales while continuing to undertake selected projects nationally.
A CREATIVE PRACTICE BUILT AROUND PARTICIPATION
At the heart of CreatingART is participation.
Emily believes creativity should be accessible and engaging. Workshops and projects are carefully structured so participants can explore ideas, learn practical skills and take an active role in making, regardless of previous experience.
Projects combine traditional making techniques, accessible materials and recycled or repurposed resources, encouraging experimentation, resourcefulness and imaginative thinking.
Whether creating an individual artwork or contributing to a large-scale collaborative project, participants are supported through a clear creative process towards a strong finished outcome.
Collaboration, problem-solving, confidence and creative ownership are central to the way CreatingART works.
